Grampian celebrates IDM
on 05 May 2021
For IDM this year the Grampian branch decided to spend some of our unity funds and organised food hampers to be delivered to each of our midwifery units, community teams and wards in the main hospital, not forgetting our management or practice education teams.
We used a local farm who run their own shop and sell goodies from other local business. It was great to be able to put some money into the local economy and the feedback from our colleagues has been overwhelmingly positive so we hope they get some new customers!
Prior to IDM we had invited all our colleagues (member or not) to send us messages of themselves whereby they either thanked a specific person, or just wishes to send a message of support. The call was answered and we were delighted to have a good number of submissions which our co-chair, Gill Swincoe, collated into a video.
We had messages from our HoM, Jayne Raitt, team leaders, midwives, MSWs and students all of which were just fantastic AND our amazing colleagues at the Peterhead Maternity Unit wrote their own poem which they all recorded for IDM too - it has all the feels 💕 so you should take a look!
As our official IDM event we ran a relaxation session with the lovely Mo Tabib. Mo is one of our amazing midwifery lecturers, she also runs relaxation sessions for our pregnant mums as a bank midwife and she is a branch activist.
Mo managed to send us all into a slumber after a packed day however we managed to rally just in time to pick our prize draw winner of a £250 hamper. We had previously invited all members to enter themselves by updating their contact preferences with the RCM. All in all it was a great day whereby we were able to continue to raise the profile of our branch and managed to put a few smiles on the faces of our colleagues. #IDM2021 done!
