Crucial RCM members in Scotland respond to survey on pay

The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) is urging its members Scotland to have their say on pay by responding to the pay consultation which was launched last week.

The pay consultation runs until midday Monday 10 May and over the past week all members should have received an email and text message containing a link to a short survey.

If you have not received any communication, it’s likely your contact details need to be updated. All you need is your membership number to vote, and you can access the survey via your email or on the RCM’s website.

Commenting, RCM’s National Officer for Scotland Jackie Mitchell said: “We want all our members in Scotland to have their say on this pay offer, so we are urging you to take our short survey during the consultation process.”

Following pay negotiations by the RCM and other Scottish Trade Unions the Scottish Government has made a formal offer of a pay increase for midwives, maternity support workers and maternity care assistants which will be backdated to December 2020.

Over the coming weeks the RCM is running a series of virtual meetings on pay for members in Scotland and is encouraging members to join via Zoom to hear more about the pay offer and the consultation process.

Jackie added:  “The virtual meetings are a great opportunity for our members to find out more about the negotiation process, how this offer was reached, what the increase would mean for them if they voted to accept or raise any questions or concerns, they may have. We have scheduled over ten virtual meetings across the coming weeks, and we really hope you can join us to learn more.”
