RCN CEO to step down
By Hollie Ewers on 20 August 2018 RCN - Royal College of Nursing
The chief executive and general secretary of the Royal College of Nursing, Janet Davies, will be stepping down from her position at the end of August.
The announcement was made today (20 August) by the college, which also revealed that Dame professor Donna Kinnair, who is currently RCN director of nursing, policy and practice, will take up the role of acting chief executive while a decision about the long-term leadership of the organisation is made.
Janet, who joined the RCN in 2005 and has been chief executive since 2015, said: ‘It has been a great honour to represent my profession at the highest level, and I am proud of the achievements the college has made over the past three years against a difficult political backdrop. I wish my colleagues and our membership all the best for the future, and look forward to taking on some new challenges.’
Chair of the RCN council Maria Trewern said that the RCN and Janet have decided to part ways by ‘mutual agreement’.
‘We thank her for all her service to the college as chief executive and general secretary over the past three years, and wish her well,’ Maria added.
