The RCM has always had strong leadership in Europe and international organisations, providing expertise and support to the varied agendas. Our current role and influence is strongest in Europe while the European Associations have grown into more strategic organisations with broader activities.
In the current environment, the role of WHO Europe is becoming more and more important to the UK regarding international Public Health, policies and data reporting. The RCM is well positioned in its advisory role to help shape and support this work by providing the voice for maternity across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Although Brexit has impacted our status in the European Union it has not and will not impact our collaboration or membership within these organisations. Collaborative work with other UK NGOs will continue through European organisations, maintaining RCM influence and the maternity voice.
